Course Requirements

To enroll, candidates must meet the following prerequisites:

  • Minimum age: 18 years

  • Certified Divemaster or equivalent rating

  • Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Provider

  • Minimum of 60 logged dives – or 50 dives with 25+ hours of underwater time

  • Own or access the required instructional equipment

Note: First Aid, CPR, and Emergency Oxygen Provider training may be offered as part of the program by our qualified RTO instructors.

 

What You'll Learn in the Assistant Instructor Program

This comprehensive training includes in-depth knowledge and practical skills across key areas, such as:

Academic Topics

  • International Training standards and procedures

  • History and philosophy of the agency

  • Certification process and yearly renewals

  • Code of ethics and professional responsibilities

  • Risk management, liability, waivers, and reporting

Instructor Skills Development

  • Course planning and classroom management

  • Lesson preparation and delivery

  • Conducting confined and open water training sessions

  • Solving real-world diving problems

  • Teaching specialty courses: snorkeling, inactive diver refreshers, and more

Emergency Response Training

  • Emergency protocols for dive operations

  • First Aid, CPR, and Oxygen Administration

 

Course Schedule & Format

Day 1 (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

  • Dive Theory

  • Open Water Dives 1 & 2

Day 2 (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

  • Pool Session

  • Academic Presentations

 

Additional Practical Experience

Candidates must assist a certified instructor in the following real-world training settings:

  • One Full Open Water Scuba Diver Course

    • Limited academic, confined water, and open water presentations

  • Four Specialty Diver Courses

  • One Rescue Diver Course

 

Certification Pathway

Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to enroll in the:
