TDI Extended Range Diver Course – Warrior Dive Adventure

Learn to Dive Safely to 55 Metres Using Deep Air and Decompression Techniques

Looking to explore deep dive sites beyond 40 metres, but limited by helium availability? The TDI Extended Range Diver Course at Warrior Dive Adventure gives you the training and experience to conduct deep dives to 55 metres (180 feet) using compressed air as your breathing gas.

This course is ideal for advanced technical divers who want to explore deep wrecks, walls, and oceanic sites where helium may be scarce or unavailable. Learn to safely manage nitrogen narcosis, execute staged decompression, and dive deeper using air with nitrox or oxygen for decompression.

Why Take the TDI Extended Range Course?

While helium-based trimix diving is often recommended for extreme depths, there are many regions around the world where helium is expensive, inaccessible, or prohibited.

The TDI Extended Range certification allows you to:

  • Safely dive to 55 metres on air

  • Manage and minimize nitrogen narcosis through proper planning

  • Use nitrox or oxygen for accelerated decompression

  • Practice deep air diving with redundant systems and safety protocols

This is a key certification for divers preparing for remote expeditions, or operating in areas with limited access to trimix.

Who Is This Course For?

This course is designed for experienced technical divers who:

  • Need to dive deeper than 40m without helium

  • Want to build decompression diving skills using air

  • Operate in remote or resource-limited dive environments

  • Are preparing for TDI Trimix or CCR courses

Why Consider Upgrading to Helitrox or Trimix?

While deep air diving is permitted through this course, the industry trend has shifted toward helium-based mixes (trimix or helitrox) due to:

  • Reduced Equivalent Narcotic Depth (END)

  • Lower gas density for easier breathing

  • Improved mental clarity, awareness, and reaction time

  • Increased safety and efficiency at depth

For dives below 40 metres—especially in cave or overhead environments—most training agencies now recommend or require trimix certification.

Course Prerequisites

To enroll in the TDI Extended Range Diver Course, students must:

  • Be 18 years or older

  • Hold certifications in both TDI Advanced Nitrox and TDI Decompression Procedures

  • Provide proof of 100+ logged dives, with at least 25 dives deeper than 30 metres

What You’ll Learn

This course builds advanced-level diving proficiency for deep air dives, covering:

Core Topics:

  • Gas planning and oxygen exposure limits

  • Narcosis management and dive safety

  • Redundant gas supply and decompression strategy

  • Decompression theory and accelerated decompression

  • Use of nitrox and oxygen for staged deco stops

  • Dive planning tools, checklists, and emergency procedures

Equipment Focus:

  • Technical dive gear and redundant systems

  • Proper configuration of decompression regulators and gas switches

  • Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting for deep air dives
