Course Prerequisites

  • Certification as an Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent

  • Minimum age: 18 years (or 10 with parental consent)

  • Junior Open Water Divers are limited to 18 metres (60 feet)

  • To exceed 18 metres, students must hold a Deep Diver certification or prove relevant deep diving experience

The course combines both theory and in-water practice, covering essential topics such as:

Wreck Diving Skills & Techniques

  • Why wreck diving is unique and rewarding

  • Understanding surface support roles and dive planning

  • Using life lines, reels, and wreck navigation tools

  • Preventing and managing disorientation and limited visibility

  • Wreck mapping, charting, and underwater orientation

Dive Types & Safety Protocols

  • Non-penetration wreck diving (2 dives required)

  • Limited-penetration wreck diving (3 dives required)

    Limited penetration is defined as entering areas within the ambient light zone of the entry point.

  • Emergency procedures and equipment considerations

  • Buddy system, contact protocols, and managing risk underwater
