The SDI Assistant Instructor Course is your bridge from Divemaster to Open Water Scuba Instructor. This course is designed to deepen your knowledge, sharpen your teaching skills, and provide you with hands-on experience alongside a certified dive instructor. Whether you're looking to build a career in diving education or simply enhance your dive leadership capabilities, this program is a critical step in your professional journey. Why Take the Assistant Instructor Course? Develop Real Teaching Experience Learn how to create lesson plans, deliver academic presentations, and conduct confined and open water sessions under the supervision of an experienced instructor. Advance Your Career in Diving Upon completion, you'll be eligible to enroll in the SDI Open Water Scuba Instructor Course and begin teaching multiple specialty diver courses after additional specialty training. Gain the Skills You Need to Lead Understand industry standards, liability management, and emergency procedures while becoming confident in your instructional role. Who Should Enroll? This course is ideal for certified Divemasters or equivalent professionals who are ready to: Take on leadership and instructional roles Assist with real student training Work closely with active scuba instructors Prepare to become Open Water Instructors Course Requirements To enroll, candidates must meet the following prerequisites: Minimum age: 18 years Certified Divemaster or equivalent rating Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Provider Minimum of 60 logged dives – or 50 dives with 25+ hours of underwater time Own or access the required instructional equipment Note: First Aid, CPR, and Emergency Oxygen Provider training may be offered as part of the program by our qualified RTO instructors.
